1. Introduction

Portion AI ("the app", "we", "our", "us") is an AI calorie and nutrition tracking application, operated by AyushCare+ Studio ("AyushCare+"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your personal information when you use the Portion AI mobile application and our website (www.portionai.in). Portion AI provides estimated nutrition information and is a software product — it is not a medical, dietetic, or healthcare service.

2. Information We Collect

a) Information you provide:

  • Google account details (name and email) when you sign in with Google
  • Food photos you take or upload for AI analysis
  • Nutrition logs: meals, estimated calories and macros, water and weight entries
  • Optional profile details you add, such as age, height and weight goals

b) Information collected automatically:

  • Device type and operating system
  • Basic app usage and diagnostic information

c) Payment information:

  • Payment details are processed by our RBI-compliant payment gateway (Cashfree) and are NOT stored on our servers
  • We only store your subscription status and billing period dates

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To analyse your food photos and estimate calories and macronutrients
  • To save your meals and show your daily and historical nutrition logs
  • To authenticate you securely via Google Sign-In
  • To process and manage your subscription
  • To maintain, secure, and improve the app
  • To respond to your support requests

4. Food Photos & AI Processing

When you scan a meal, the photo is sent securely to our AI provider (Google's Gemini API) to estimate the food and its nutrition. Photos are used only to produce your nutrition estimate. We do not use your photos to identify you, and we do not sell them. Estimated nutrition values are approximate and intended for general tracking, not clinical use.

5. Data Storage & Security

  • Your data is stored securely on Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security, so you can only access your own data
  • Data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest
  • Your login session is stored in encrypted storage on your device
  • We do not store payment card details — Cashfree handles all payment data

6. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell your personal data. We share limited data only with the service providers needed to run the app:

  • Google (Gemini AI) — to analyse food photos and estimate nutrition
  • Google Sign-In — to authenticate your account
  • Cashfree — to process subscription payments
  • Supabase — secure data storage and hosting
  • Law enforcement — only when required by applicable Indian law

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate profile data
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, your personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated data may be retained for analytics.

9. Children's Privacy

Portion AI is not directed to children under 13, and a subscription may only be purchased by someone 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without verifiable parental consent.

10. Cookies & Tracking

Our website uses only essential cookies for session management. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via the app or website.
